Do You Know These About Pipe Expansion Joints?

Sunny Steel introduces you some useful knowledge about bellows pipe expansion joints, hope it would be helpful to you.
Why are most bellows expansion joints made of stainless steel?
  1. Stainless steel corrosion is small, can design a thin thickness of bellows expansion joint, single corrugated pipe compensation is large.
  2. Stainless steel is twice as plastic as carbon steel, which is good for cold forming.
  3. The allowable stress amplitude of stainless steel is 1.5 times that of carbon steel in the same service life.
How to choose bellows expansion joint material?
  1. Carbon steel and low alloy pipe expansion joint bellows is only applicable to t 375 ℃ or less;Austenitic stainless steel bellows tube expansion joint is only applicable to t 500 ℃ or less.
  2. Corrosion residuals of expansion joints of carbon steel and low alloy corrugated tubes should not exceed 1mm, otherwise austenitic stainless steel should be used.
  3. Corrosive medium, such as chloride, sulfide, alkali and acid, or high (above 550 ℃), please use the corrugated pipe corrosion resistant alloy or high  alloy pipe expansion joints.
What makes the lamphine bellows expansion joint work well?
  1. Strong external pressure resistance;
  2. Low project cost;
  3. Easy to construct;
  4. The flow resistance coefficient is small and the flow rate is large.
  5. Excellent low temperature resistance and shock resistance;
  6. Good chemical stability;
  7. Long service life;
  8. Excellent wear resistance;
  9. Super compensation function.
 are designed to safely absorb the dimensional changes of pipework systems and ducts caused by heat induced expansion and contraction. They are essential in pipework systems that are used to convey substances of a high temperature, such as steam, heated water or exhaust gases.
Expansion joints can also be designed for other applications, such as noise and vibration caused by reciprocating machinery, building settlement and in some extreme environments earthquake movement. Expansion joints are very important components with in a pipework system as they not only solve the problems associated with pipework movement but offer such advantages as reducing stresses and loads to connecting equipment such as pumps and steam turbines.
